Access panel for HVAC filter behind wall?
My HVAC guy suggested putting an access panel in the hallway wall so we can change the filter without going into the attic every month. Has anyone done this? What size and material worked best for you?

That’s a smart upgrade—makes filter changes take 30 seconds instead of 15 minutes. I cut a 16×20 opening and used a plastic panel with a removable door. The magnetic latch is strong enough to stay closed but easy to pull open with one hand. It’s UV resistant so it hasn’t yellowed even with sunlight hitting that wall. After painting it matches the eggshell finish perfectly. I got a tough access panel for drywall and it’s been zero maintenance for almost two years now. Highly recommend doing it if your filter location is awkward.
